GAG Binder Cover

I made a binder cover for my Grab and Go Emergency Notebook, and thought I would share the cover with you if you want to use it.

The first link will take you to a JPEG image hosted on my Google Page Creator account. If you want to print from it, simply right-click the image, save to disk, then open and print from the program you commonly use.

Binder Cover

The zipped file works similar to a PDF (which I tried to create, but couldn't. Believe me, I tried. If anyone knows how to covert a JPEG file in the GIMP to a PDF file, please share the details with me. I figured out how to do it, but it would make the PDF so much bigger than the JPEG file, and I didn't want to burden people with a slow download speed.)

Anyway, click on the zip file, save to disk, then use the program you would normally print from.

Zipped Binder Cover

If you have any problems with the print quality, leave me a comment or email me. I didn't take the time to print from these links because I already used a lot of ink trying to make my own for my binder.

Preparedness Challenge: Week 18

This is your challenge for the week of April 27 through May 3.

Week 18

We are moving on to a new portion of our GAG Binder. This week, we will start on the Medical Information section of our binder.

Your assignment this week is to make a copy of your Immunization Records and place them behind your Medical Information tab.

Food Storage

While shopping, purchase extra dry soups and soup mixes. Or, you can make your own from dehydrated veggies. Also, try to purchase some boxes of crackers for your storage, i.e., saltines, grahams, etc...

Preparedness Challenge: The Plan

This post was supposed to be finished and posted on Sunday, however, I have had a couple of hiccups since then. I had to figure out how to upload a .pdf file to Blogger, and that took some time. I think I have it figured out now, so let's get started.

The Plan

Every Sunday we are going to work on our Grab and Go (GAG) Emergency Notebook. I'm also going to give you a weekly task to help you build up an adequate food (and other necessary items) supply. Each month will have four weeks with designated items you should buy for that week.

To begin, you'll need:

1 three-ring binder
10 page protector sheets (to begin, add more as needed)
1 set of binder divider tabs (these usually sell with 5 tabs, you will need 7)

The first page in your binder will be a list of all the Important Documents you need to get copies of. Download this file, called Important Documents, onto your computer to print off at home. Slip this paper into a sheet protector.

Next, download this file, called Personal Information, print it off, fill it out, then place it behind your Important Documents list (in the same sheet protector). Save this file to your computer so you can update it periodically.

Using your tab binder dividers, label each divider according to your Important Documents sheet. For example, Proof of Identification, Property Records, Insurance Policies, etc....

As we work on this book making copies and adding documents, we will use the page protectors to keep our copies from being ruined.

This book, when finished, should be placed in the trunk of your car, at a friends house, or in another safe place where you can get to it quickly or keep it from being ruined.

Preparedness Challenge: Week 23

This is your challenge for the week of June 1 through June 7.

Week 23

Create a document that lists the history of illnesses, accidents, and surgeries for each member of your family. Make a copy of this document, and place it behind your Medical Information divider tab in your GAG binder.

When shopping this week, pick up some extra condiments. I.e., mustard, ketchup, relish, mayo, Worcestershire sauce, pickles, olives, soy sauce, salad dressings, etc...

Preparedness Challenge: Week 37

This is your challenge for the week of Sunday, October 12, through Saturday, October 18.

Week 37

This week, make a copy of all of your usernames and passwords for online accounts. This assignment is a little tricky, though. You don't want this list to end up in the wrong hands resulting in you being completely vulnerable to online thievery. One suggestion (I learned this from my IT savvy husband) is to list your username, but instead of your password, list a word associated with it, not the actual password.

If you are like me, you use the same password for a lot of different sites and accounts. So, if your password is:

ih8sn000w*

You could list the word 'Winter' or 'Cold' in place of your password. After you've created your list, place a copy behind your 'Other' divider tab in your GAG binder.

While shopping, try to purchase some extra wraps and bags. For example, purchase aluminum foil, garbage bags, freezer bags, saran wrap, wax paper, etc..

Good Luck, and I'll check in next week!

Preparedness Challenge: Week 8

This is your challenge for the week of February 17 through February 23. If you are new to the challenge, you can find all the links and lists under the Preparedness Challenge Label. It is not too late to get started. The goal of this challenge is to get our household ready for times of emergency. We are creating a binder that has all of the important information you will need in case you have to start over after an emergency. This binder is the Grab and Go Emergency Notebook, otherwise known as The GAG. Our second goal is to have our home and pantry adequately stocked with food and other necessities in case of an emergency.

Week 8

This week, you will make copies of your receipts for all your major purchases and place them behind the Property Records divider tab.

Your shopping task is to purchase extra personal products, such as:

soap, deodorant, shampoo, lotion, shaving supplies, feminine products, and toothbrushes.

Have fun and enjoy your week of getting prepared!

Preparedness Challenge: Week 35

This is your challenge for the week of Sunday, September 7 through Saturday, September 13.

Week 35

This week, we are moving to the 'Other' divider tab in our GAG Binders. Your first assignment is to make a copy of your personal address book and place it behind the 'Other' divider tab.

If you keep your information on the computer, print it out, staple it, and add it to your binder. If you keep your information on paper with pencil, make copies of each page and add it to your binder.

While shopping, purchase some extra medical supplies. Be sure to buy what your family uses, whether it be Tylenol or Aspirin, etc. Don't forget to purchase children's medicine.

Go get it done!

Preparedness Challenge: Week 30

This is your challenge for the week of July 20 through July 26.

Week 30

We are moving on to the Financial Records of our GAG Binders. To begin with, make copy of your tax returns (at least two years worth) and place those copies in your binder.

While shopping, purchase extra tomato products. This includes Salsa, juice, sauce, paste, whole, chopped, stewed, pizza, and spaghetti sauce.

Good luck!
